FAQs

Here to Assist

How are sessions paid for?

The cost of sessions is usually met by the school. This could be via pupil premium or an alternative fund. It may also be met by children's services or some other agency. We are also working on developing a bursary which will allow the most needy young people to access our support free of charge. To find out more or to discuss costs, contact us.

Are sessions confidential?

Sort of. Sessions are confidential within the constraints of the law. There are some circumstances where the law requires us to break confidentiality (safeguarding etc). These will be explained fully in the first session.

Can I speak to a female worker?

Yes. If you would rather speak to a female, just let us know and we can arrange this.

What age people do you work with?

We usually work with young people from Secondary school age up to 19. However this is flexible. Get in touch to discuss your needs.

Will my parents/carers know?

We will usually not tell your parents that you are having sessions with Concentric Support, or what you discuss with us. We will encourage you to discuss things with them if at all possible. But this will be your choice.

Do sessions have to take place in school?

No. School is often convenient, but sessions can take place wherever you feel comfortable. This could be at home, in a cafe, in a library, youth centre or community centre, or even outdoors!

How can we stay in touch?

This is a Person-Centred Service, so we can use whatever means of communication you prefer (although I am not great at Snapchat)! There is a chat button on the website. You can also text me, phone me or email me. I also have a Professional Facebook Account which is probably the most convenient.  I work all sorts of hours, so you can message me whenever you like, but I can't promise an immediate answer. Even I am allowed to sleep sometimes! If you are a teacher, parent, or carer concerned about social media safety, please read our Digital Media Policy and feel free to ask any questions.

Will there be lots of long words or writing?

No. We make a point of using language which is simple and friendly. It is also very rare that we would ever expect you to write anything down. Sessions are mostly just a friendly conversation.
